January ’99 Volume 1.1

Senior Breakaway Herald

1 - Hi Everyone

- from Grumbleface and Slop

Breakaway Camp 1999 is sadly over again for another year. I hope you all had a great time. I know we did.

At camp this year we had a great time in the Mud Pit. But it rained so some of us played in the really wet mud pit. Slop tried archery but forgot to let go of the arrow. We went bike riding, swam in the pool, built a Titanic ship, played on the pool tables, and the table tennis tables, and we had a go at basketball but Mr Matt threw Grumbleface through the hoop so we didn’t play anymore.

Grumbleface went 4 wheel driving but got scared when the car went over a big rock. Grumble doesn’t reckon Mr Barrs is a very good 4WD driver. Slop liked the mountain top that we ended up at. It seemed like paradise.

There was an excellent ‘Mad Scientist’ wide game. Slop was going for the Red team and Grumbleface was going for the Yellow Team. Grumbleface won (Ha Ha).

Grumble loves swimming and loved the beach. But he hates getting wrung out afterwards.

The Wild Child Dee Jay Bruce gave us an excellent night on Wednesday night. And Brian made us laugh when GROK came to visit. We worked out who killed Dumpty. And we had the best pair of puppets to sing to us each night. You can’t say that Slop - Why not?

We decided that we will send you this Newsletter a few times during the year. Grumble and Slop hope you like it. Inside this Newsletter, you will find a puzzle, an interview with a leader and a story. This Newsletter also has the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the camp leaders and kids. I know the leaders would love to get a letter from you. I reckon the friends you met at camp would like a letter too.

God Bless,

Grumble and Slop.

2 - Grumble Phoned Jeremy and Asked Him These Questions…

Grumble: Jeremy, What Do You Do For a Job?

Jeremy: I work as a Sound Technician. I work in the movies. Last year I was working on Babe2. What a cool movie. If you look real hard you will see my name in the credits (but don’t blink)

Grumble: What’s Your Favourite Sport?

Jeremy: I would love to go sky surfing. But meanwhile I have tried Bungee Jumping (once) and I love Snow Boarding. I try to go to the snow every year.

Grumble: What is the Funniest Thing that Ever Happened To You?

Jeremy: Once I was skiing in a blizzard. My friends were following me. I couldn’t see anything, so I didn’t see the cliff until I fell off it at 120km/hour.

Grumble: Ouch.

Jeremy: The people behind me just heard me yell and then I disappeared. They stopped! I didn’t! They thought it was funny. They just looked at me at the bottom of the cliff and they laughed. I didn’t laugh - it hurt.

Slop: So Jeremy - Do You Like Cassie too?

Grumble: Slop! Stop That! You can’t ask that question.

Slop: But I like Cassie.

Grumble: Slop, we already know you like Cassie…

Grumble: Jeremy, What Makes You Come Back To Breakaway Camp each Year?

Jeremy: I have been coming to the Breakaway Camps for a long time. I keep coming back because I love giving the kids a lot of fun. And they give me a lot of laughs too. I also like to tell people about God. He is so special to me and I reckon everyone should hear about God. That way, we can all make up our minds about him.

Grumble: Why Do You Like Breakaway Camp?

Jeremy: Its a great way to spend my holidays. I get to play with my 4WD and we have heaps of fun.

Grumble: What Did You Think Was The Best Part of Senior Breakaway Camp?

Jeremy: I liked Grae’s talks in the morning. He talked about how ‘Encountering Jesus’ makes such a difference in our lives. And Grae wasn’t boring.
